February 22 (Tuesday) CT Wildflower Meadows Owen McLoughlin of the Southington Agricultural Science Program at Southington High School, will discuss Connecticut wildflowers, with a focus on creating a wildflower meadow. March 22 (Tuesday) 9:45 AM Bulbs and Perennials! Color your garden with bulbs and perennials presented by Christine Darnell. April 26 (Tuesday) 9:45 AM What's New?? Plantsman Sebby Milano from Winterberry Gardens will present What’s New in the Garden 2022? Always an interesting presentation. Plant Sale- May 21, Calendar House, 388 Pleasant Street, Southington ANNUAL PLANT SALE AND FUNDRAISER Sale of Plants / Crafts / Baked Goods / Scholarship Raffle Rain or shine Please don't forget your mask. Featuring Club members’ plants that grow well in New England (Zone 6), crafts, homemade baked items, and the scholarship raffle. MAY 24, (Tuesday) 9:45 AM The Mental Health Benefits of Gardening
Dr. Susan Masino of Trinity College will present Gardening for Mental Health. June 28 (Tuesday) 9:45 AM Growing Iris In New England The Iris Lady, Ruth Bennett, will present a program focusing on irises that grow well in our capricious New England climate and how to maintain blooming iris from spring through autumn. She will cover many diversified iris species, the most recent introductions of New England hybridizers, and latest organic techniques for growing irises. Iris culture will be discussed with the best methods for dealing with pests and difficult growing conditions. She will also show the latest interspecies crosses, new iris developments, and the latest colors. July 26 (Tuesday) 9:45 AM Gardening with Frog and Toad Margery Winters from Roaring Brook Nature Center will present a program that discusses the how a garden filled with the peeps, trills, quacks, or croaks from our native frogs and toads is one of the fastest ways to judge the health of your local ecosystem. Learn how to garden to help the amphibian populations in your yard and beyond. August 23 (Tuesday): Southington Community Pavilion (located on the Southington Drive-In property) Potluck luncheon for members and their guests. This is a "green" picnic, so please remember to bring your plates/drinking glasses. September 27 (Tuesday) 9:45 AM Let's Get Creative! Fall flower make and take.
